In addition to her guest conducting appointments, Kim is a frequent adjunct professor and guest lecturer at the university level, including Southern Methodist University, The University of North Texas, Florida State University, Abilene Christian University, and Texas Tech University. ![]() Ahrens is a highly sought after clinician and guest conductor for elementary and middle school honor choirs throughout the nation, including over fifteen MS/JH All-Region choirs and more than ten Elementary Honor Choirs across the state of Texas, the South Dakota Elementary All-State Choir, and the Delaware MS/JH All-State Choir. ![]() Her choirs have been recognized as the National Winner of the Foundation for Music Education’s Mark of Excellence National Choral Honors Project in 20.Īn expert in the adolescent voice, Ms. Choirs under her direction have been invited to perform at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in 20, and the American Choral Directors Association Middle School/Junior High National Conference in 2014. Having taught choir in the public school system for eighteen years, Kim has led her award winning choirs to perform at numerous state and national conventions. From 2013 to 2022, she was a principal conductor for The Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas under Cynthia Nott, where she led the Apprentice Chorus in over 30 performances at the Meyerson Symphony Center, including a world premiere in 2018. Ahrens will prepare the GDCS Cantabile Chorus to perform in the Dallas Opera’s production of Hansel and Gretel.
